A 40A potter Brumfield relay has been tucked into the lower cavity of a standard, UL Listed, Marwell adapter model EZ 1002. In this position it is completely protected from both the elements and the possibility of physical harm during installation. The standard customer alert output from the meter is wired into the relay coil and programmed to control the water heater at the customer site. The meter may also be programmed to survey as it controls.
This special adapter was requested over the telephone and a sample was
sent the next day. After some minor revisions the design was placed in
product within two weeks and finished units were on site in a few days
later.
